Betsy Schulz received the Art in Concrete Award from the American Concrete Institute for her treatment of the Fallbrook Library Garden Wall. She sandblasted into the surface of the poured-in-place concrete retaining wall silhouettes of grasses, native plants, birds and butterflies. In addition, she created five recessed areas in the wall for colorful custom mosaic panels. This gave the otherwise cold concrete expanse of wall an inviting feeling. She was presented the award at the yearly dinner of the San Diego International Chapter in May 2011.
